General Counsel (U.S.)

The ideal candidate for the role of General Counsel has a verifiable track record as a leader at a bank, broker-dealer, clearing firm, exchange, or a core technology provider to these firms, and possesses an in-depth awareness of the industry's product, technology, legal, and regulatory frameworks. They will have been recognized by peers for successes in new product initiatives, as well as the development of regulatory and compliance functions. The candidate also must be an excellent communicator who can confidently lead discussions with team members and other key stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Advise senior management on legal and regulatory strategy for the modernization of the precious metals trading market

  • Manage and coordinate relationships for the firm’s regulatory functions

  • Manage corporate transactions with global financial institutions by providing legal and strategic counsel on corporate fundraising, as well as take the lead on managing a team of outside counsel focused on international corporate and tax law issues

  • Prepare and review agreements with financial institutions, as well as general commercial contracts and other documents for day-to-day business transactions

  • Negotiate on SolidusLink’s behalf with counterparty counsel on commercial, regulatory, and other matters

  • Maintain intellectual property portfolio and manage IP prosecution process with outside counsel

  • Oversee internal and outside counsel budgets

  • Lead the implementation of compliance functions

About You

  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney. Experience with venture-stage companies a plus but not required

  • Substantial financial markets experience

  • Exposure to and relationships with key industry regulators (such as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Commodity Futures Trading Commission)

  • Experience driving and negotiating commercial agreements between financial institutions and market structure companies

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, suitable for interactions with corporate directors and executives, as well as regulators
